Due to bug ITS#3051, LAAAD may not work on SSL connections to Active Directory initiated by OpenLDAP. Use stunnel mode. The versions of OpenLDAP that are reported not to work are

>=2.1.29
<2.2.18

Fedora Core 3 comes with 2.2.13 as standard and Mandrake 10.1 with 2.1.30, neither of which will work.
The problem was not reported in versions <=2.1.28 and was fixed in versions >=2.2.18.
